Andrew Joshua Matson was born at 1:26 pm on January 30th, and went to be with Jesus at around 5:30 pm on March 3rd. He spent his time here on earth living in the NICU at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. Jennifer has been giving daily updates, and we wanted to make them available to our friends and family. We were blessed to be Andrew's parents for 33 days. While we will always miss him and love him, we know that he is in a much better place where he will never again feel pain or discomfort. We thank God for blessing us with the time we had with Andrew. -Josh and Jennifer

Wednesday, January 31st

The neonatologist told us that Andrew most likely would not live through the night, but he proved her wrong! And not only did he live, he also did well enough on his ventilator that they were able to turn it down to about 50% oxygen. The warmer on his left leg did indeed improve the circulation in his right leg so that looks a lot better. The doctor has started some phototherapy to help prevent jaundice, which all preemies get. So Andrew basks in the light each day with a tiny pair of cloth sunglasses to protect his eyes. His color is also much better today, and he will start TPN nutrition as well as an antibiotic through his IV.
