Andrew Joshua Matson was born at 1:26 pm on January 30th, and went to be with Jesus at around 5:30 pm on March 3rd. He spent his time here on earth living in the NICU at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. Jennifer has been giving daily updates, and we wanted to make them available to our friends and family. We were blessed to be Andrew's parents for 33 days. While we will always miss him and love him, we know that he is in a much better place where he will never again feel pain or discomfort. We thank God for blessing us with the time we had with Andrew. -Josh and Jennifer

Weight: 2 lbs 5 ounces

Andrew was stable today. He got a transfusion of 16 cc's. His blood gases were okay, not good enough to turn down the vent, but not bad enough to turn it up. So I'm happy with that. Andrew's weight tonight is down again, 2 lbs 5 oz. But I'm not worried or upset, I know he'll have setbacks and he's still over his birthweight.

He had a new neonatologist who came on call today, Dr. Ismail. So far he is the only person involved with Andrew's care that I haven't particularly loved. He came over to meet me, at my request, and he acted like he was in a huge hurry and it was an inconvenience. Then he basically told me that the orthopedist and neurologist weren't a big deal and he would only have them come because Dr. Karmo promised us last week. So in other words, not because he feels they are important to Andrew's care, but only to appease me or something. He spent a grand total of ninety seconds telling me this, and then left.

The nurse today was really nice though. She said I *might* even get to hold Andrew tomorrow! He still has the IV in his bellybutton, but she said that she knows I understand the importance of being careful with it and she would supervise, so if he is stable tomorrow and it isn't a busy day in the nicu and the dr. approves, then I can hold him for a short time!!!

Today was a very busy nicu day. There were 6 babies admitted in the 5 hours I was in there, 3 of them being a set of triplets. When the triplets came in they actually kicked out all the other parents/visitors because they needed full attention to work on them. The baby before them was a transport from another hospital. And then one before that one was 7 lbs, nothing exciting. And the first was a 6 lb breech baby. That one was really neat to see. (S)he came in with legs straight up to ears, and when they would pull its legs down they would flop right back up, straight against ears. It was neat to see. They actually tied down the baby's legs for 1 hour, then untied and it looked completely normal, straight legs and everything.
