Andrew Joshua Matson was born at 1:26 pm on January 30th, and went to be with Jesus at around 5:30 pm on March 3rd. He spent his time here on earth living in the NICU at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. Jennifer has been giving daily updates, and we wanted to make them available to our friends and family. We were blessed to be Andrew's parents for 33 days. While we will always miss him and love him, we know that he is in a much better place where he will never again feel pain or discomfort. We thank God for blessing us with the time we had with Andrew. -Josh and Jennifer

Sunday, February 18th

Weight: 2 lbs 5.2 ounces (1055 g)

Andrew had another rough day today. He had to get the ventilator turned up to 50 because his blood gas was bad. He was also on about 75% oxygen when we left. The nurse reassured us yesterday that they sometimes have babies on a ventilator for months, so it's okay that he's been on it for almost 3 weeks. We are just praying he doesn't continue to slide backward.

He got a bath today while Josh was visiting. We took Haley down with just the 3 of us for the first time, so Josh & I had to switch off visiting Andrew and watching Haley in the patient waiting room. She was good.

Andrew got a special lung therapy on his right lung today where they sort of vibrate it to break up the secretions and try to stimulate it to grow a bit. His left lung is a little stronger than his right. He also has to lay on his left side because of that, but he seems to like his left side so that wasn't a big deal. No change in his feeds, he is still at 15 cc's. He is spitting up still, but the dr. said as long as he is digesting most of it then that's okay.
