Andrew had a rough day today, but I handled it much better than I have been. I think me knowing ahead of time that he would struggle for a few days was more helpful because I've been expecting it. His vent rate is up to 55. They turn it up in increments of 5, and if he gets up to 65 or so then he will have to go back on the oscillator. It has been 2 days now, so I'm praying that he will start to level out tomorrow. They check his blood twice a day, so if it's bad tonight it will go up again.
His bili check was good and they think we are done with the lights for good. He did look a little pale to me today though so I won't be surprised if we have another transfusion in a day or two. His hair looked freshly washed so he kind of looks like a little chick, to quote my sister. He was pretty uncomfortable in any position other than on his back so they didn't mess with him too much today. He was having breathing trouble but every time his sats dropped I would take his hand and talk to him and they would slowly climb back up.
Andrew Joshua Matson was born at 1:26 pm on January 30th, and went to be with Jesus at around 5:30 pm on March 3rd. He spent his time here on earth living in the NICU at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. Jennifer has been giving daily updates, and we wanted to make them available to our friends and family.
We were blessed to be Andrew's parents for 33 days. While we will always miss him and love him, we know that he is in a much better place where he will never again feel pain or discomfort. We thank God for blessing us with the time we had with Andrew.
